Docudays UA at the 15th Montreal Ukrainian Festival

22 August 2014

For the first time Docudays UA in collaboration with the 15th annual Montreal Ukrainian Festival in Quebec, Canada present a documentary program Maidan. During first September’s weekend Ukrainian Canadian community and international audience of Montreal will watch documentaries about recent events that have changed history of Ukraine.

Two feature and collection of short films will expose events of recent history: from the Orange revolution to EuroMaidan, and from EuroMaidan to the actual crisis in the East of Ukraine.

The title of the program, Maidan, brings us not just to the central square in the Ukrainian capital: its symbolism exceeds the geographical limits of the square as well as the limits of the revolution that took place during the winter months of 2013-2014 in Kyiv. This program will try to demonstrate that the latest revolution is not just an event or a chain of events but rather a unique phenomenon at the crossroads of Ukraine’s politics, history and culture.
