On December, 17 in Odessa the season of the festival DAYS of DOCUMENTARY ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN UKRAINE has finished with the “sold out” notice.
The Festival has opened at the end of March in Kiev in the House of cinema and from May till December traveled on regions of Ukraine.
This year inhabitants of 7 cities of Ukraine have got acquainted with the festival films.
The basic idea is to acquaint the Ukrainian spectator with the best products of the art documentary. Very often spectators came to us and thanked because films became for them the discovery of completely new kind of cinema, which existence they did not suspect earlier.
In total during the season about 30 thousand Ukrainian spectators have got acquainted with the program of the festival. Mostly they were students, youth, and representatives of creative professions. Film projections were held in cinemas, art - clubs, colleges and high schools of Ukraine.

The Third International Festival “Human Rights Documentary Films Days - UKRAINIAN CONTEXT” will take place on May 20 — 26 2006 in the House of Cinema, 6 Saksaganski St, Kiev.

Within the framework of the Festival the traditional Workshop Ukrainian on international co-production of documentary films and the First Ukrainian open-air workshop “Country Doc” will take place, and there will be a seminar for teachers on usage of documentary at school.
We want a documentary filmmaker to be free of political control and financial dictate of mass-media proprietors as well as films to be devoted to the modern life and to be based on fundamental values of democracy, such as the right for freedom and human dignity.

After it is finished the Festival will traditionally travel throughout major Ukrainian regions for 8 month.
We want to increase the amount of regions of Ukraine where we shall acquaint the Ukrainian spectator with good documentary cinema.

For filmmakers seeking a door into the film world we offer international documentary film workshops in the center of Europe as well as pitching in Krakow.

The workshops will be a master class, i.e. individual instruction by a renowned director over all projects. The Dragon Forum 2006 Workshops will be held in Cieszyn (July 2005) and Warsaw (winter 2005/6). We will present ready projects to commissioning editors from European television stations, who will be invited by us to the Krakow Film Festival in June 2006.

Marcel Lozinski will be the Dragon Forum 2006 Master. Marcel Lozinski, along with artists such as Krzysztof Kieslowski or Kazimierz Karabasz, is considered one of the main representatives of the Polish documentary school. He is also and educator whose artistic assistance is sought by young filmmakers. >>>
